APPLICATION FOR PARTICIPATION IN THE HOUSING PROGRAMS AND FOR SUBMISSION OF BID PROPOSALS

Palm Beach County through its Department of Housing and Community Development is soliciting applications from private general contractors to participate in both the single family owner-occupied Rehabilitation Program, and the Replacement Housing Program.  Basic contractor requirements for acceptance in the program are, but not necessarily limited to, the following:

            1)         Active residential, building, or general contractor’s license.
            2)         Current occupational license.
            3)         Commercial General Liability insurance coverage.
            4)         Business Automobile Liability insurance coverage.
            5)         Workers Compensation Insurance.

Contractors who know the following are strongly encouraged to apply:

           -           Principles of rehabilitation and construction of single family homes.
            -           Local building codes.
            -           One or more construction trades.
            -           What constitutes quality construction.

Contractors will be expected to:

            -           Perform quality work.
            -           Organize and coordinate construction tradesmen.
            -           Communicate well with others.
            -           Complete work on time.
            -           Establish a rapport with owners and respect their desires.
            -           Follow up on complaints.
            -           Follow sound and honest business practices.

The Rehabilitation Program consists of repairing and remodeling single family structures for low income families throughout Palm Beach County.  The Replacement Housing Program consists of the demolition of existing structures and the construction of single family structures for low income families throughout Palm Beach County.   Application forms are available at 160 Australian Avenue, Suite 500, West Palm Beach, Florida 33406, by calling (561) 233-3631, or by downloading the following documents:

Upon acceptance and placement on the contractor’s list, invitations to bid will be provided to contractors, and their bid proposals will be welcomed.
