MEETING: BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS, WORKSHOP 1. CALL TO ORDER: September 21, 1999, at 2:25 p.m., in the Palm Beach County Governmental Center, West Palm Beach, Florida. (CLERK'S NOTE: The Roll Call, Prayer, and Pledge of Allegiance were done at the preceding Regular Meeting. Commissioners Aaronson, Lee, Marcus, Masilotti, Newell, and Roberts were present at the workshop.) 2. REGULAR AGENDA - 10:30 A.M. - See separate meeting of this date. 3. 9:30 A.M. - LAKESHORE MIDDLE SCHOOL REVITALIZATION - BELLE GLADE. DISCUSSED WITH DIRECTION 9-21-99 Commissioner Masilotti proposed using the Lakeshore Middle School, located at 1101 Southwest Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard in Belle Glade, as a community facility. Various community service and development organizations could be housed in the facility, which would create a central location to which Glades residents could travel for services that are presently scattered throughout the community. 4. 10:00 A.M. - SOUTH FLORIDA ECOSYSTEM RESTORATION TASK FORCE. DISCUSSED 9-21-99 The workshop provided the Board with information about the South Florida Ecosystem Restoration Task Force, its local working group, and the Integrated Strategic Planning Initiative for ecosystem restoration in South Florida. 5. 2:00 P.M. - TRAFFIC PERFORMANCE STANDARDS - PUBLIC FACILITIES EXEMPTION. DISCUSSED WITH DIRECTION 9-21-99 The workshop proposed amendments to the three-year grace period provision within Traffic Performance Standards and the Comprehensive Plan by including facilities that are wholly owned and operated by state, County or local governments and public and private schools.
