At the December 1, 2015, Board of County Commissioners meeting, the board took the following action:

Roads – approved on preliminary reading and to advertise for public hearing on December 15 the annual update of the county’s five-year road program. The plan outlines proposed road projects and improvements over the next five years and certain changes and modifications. Board direction included removing construction funding but leaving in right of way funding for the widening of 45th Street between Haverhill Road and Military Trail and changing construction funding to design funding for the extension of Roebuck Road from Jog Road to State Road 7.

Planning – appointed Vice Mayor Hal Valeche and Commissioners Paulette Burdick and Priscilla Taylor to regular seats and Commissioners Melissa McKinlay, Steven Abrams and Shelley Vana to alternate seats on the Treasure Coast Regional Planning Council.

League of Cities – ratified the appointments of Wellington Councilwoman Anne Gerwig, Greenacres Mayor Sam Ferreri, Riviera Beach Councilman Bruce Guyton, Palm Springs Councilmember Joni Brinkman, and Lake Park Mayor James DuBois to regular seats on the Palm Beach County League of Cities.

Child care – directed staff to schedule an item for the Environmental Control Hearing Board to discuss child care issues and concerns.

Offshore drilling – Legislative Affairs staff was directed to research and include in the county’s federal legislative agenda the possibility of offshore oil drilling being allowed in the Atlantic Ocean.

Vista Center – extended a lease agreement with the Sub Division to continue providing food services at the county’s Vista Center complex at 2300 N. Jog Road in West Palm Beach at an annual rate of $9,853.70. The Sub Division leases 349 square feet of space in the lunchroom area.

Special magistrates – adopted a resolution approving an updated standard form agreement for special magistrate services. The Unified Land Development Code (ULDC) and various other county codes and ordinances provide for the resolution of violations and disputes by a practicing lawyer acting as a special master or hearing officer (special magistrate)
