At the Feb. 8, 2022 Board of County Commissioners meeting, the board took the following action:

COVID-19 Update – received presentation from Dr. Alina Alonso, Palm Beach County Health Department. COVID-19 Omicron variant now makes up more than 99.9% of new cases. The county's daily positivity rate is at 15.1%. Members of the public are still encouraged to be vaccinated. For more information, visit www.pbchd.com or www.hcdpbc.org.

Administration –received and filed, by a 6-0 vote, a mid-session legislative update for the 2022 Legislative Session.

Approved, by a 6-0 vote, a preliminary reading and advertisement for a public hearing on Feb., 24, at 9:30 a.m. regarding an ordinance repealing Chapter 27, Article VI, Sections 27-111 through 27-117 of the county code and replacing it with the county's mandatory year-round landscape irrigation conservation measures ordinance.

Airports – approved an amendment with AECOM Technical Services Inc. for consulting/professional services in the amount of $1,763,111.51, with a second one-year renewal option for the continued performance of professional planning and design services.

Approved an amendment with Lebolo Construction Management Inc. for Construction Manager at Risk Services for miscellaneous airport improvements in the amount of $777,546.69.

County Attorney – approved, by a 6-0 vote, a private attorney-client session between the Board, county administrator, county attorney, chief assistant county attorney and outside counsel to discuss settlement negotiations in pending litigation in reference to National Prescription Opiate Litigation, Case Number: MDL 2804 (N.D. Ohio) and Palm Beach County v. Purdue Pharma, et al., Case Number: 1:18-op-46121-DAP (N.D. Ohio), which will be held at noon on March 8, 2022.

Recognized Robert (Bob) P. Banks, Chief Land Use County Attorney retiring after 33-years with the County Attorney's Office. Mr. Banks presided over BCC Zoning and BCC Comprehensive Plan along with other related boards.

Engineering & Public Works – adopted 11 resolutions to initiate eminent domain proceedings necessary for the construction of roadway improvements on Northlake Blvd., from east of Seminole Pratt Whitney Rd. to east of Hall Blvd, included in the Five Year Road Program.

Facilities Development & Operation – approved a conceptual term sheet with the University of Florida (UF) for the potential conveyance of approximately 5.03 acres of county-owned property for the development of an Urban Campus; authorized the county administrator or designee to commence negotiations with UF; authorized county staff to initiate the due diligence and master planning process for the county-owned 45th Street property required for the potential relocation of the Community Services Department.

Housing & Economic Development – approved the third amendment to the State Housing Initiatives Partnership Program Local Housing Assistance Plan for FY20, FY21 and FY22.

Palm Tran – adopted a resolution authorizing the signing and submission of the FY23 Section 5310 grant application, totaling $980,100, with a required local match of $108,900, and the submission of supporting documents, and assurances to the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT); authorized the county administrator or designee to sign and accept the resulting grant award letter; approved the purchase of paratransit vehicles from the FDOT TRIPS Contract; authorized the county administrator or designee to submit the order form for the FDOT TRIPS Contract to request purchase of the vehicles and expenditure of grant funds and local match pursuant to the resulting notice of grant award.​
