Press Release
South County Feral Cat Sterilization Program

Palm Beach County Mayor Robert Weinroth announced the Board of County Commissioners recently approved a $75,000 allocation to the Tri-County Humane Society in Boca Raton to address the feral cat population in South County.

Currently, no low-cost or free services for cat sterilization are offered in South County. To address the need, the allocated funding will provide services including spaying/neutering, microchipping, vaccinating against rabies and ear tipping.

This program supports the county’s Countdown 2 Zero initiative to reduce euthanasia by sterilizing cats in overpopulated areas and is expected to provide services to 1,000 local cats and prevent thousands of unsolicited births.

“This is a humane and effective solution to stabilizing the feral cat population. Not only does it improve the lives of the cats, it’s a real benefit to the community,” said Weinroth.

For more information on the program, please contact David Walesky at (561) 233-1212.
