BCCCommissioner Maria Sachs was elected Mayor for a one-year term and Commissioner Maria Marino was elected as Vice Mayor.

Airports – Authorized termination of Janitorial Services with Triangle Services of Florida and approved contact for Janitorial Services with Flagship Airport Services.

Community Revitalization – Approved contract with Spirit of Giving Network, Inc. in an amount not-to-exceed $115,000 for professional services to assist with the planning and purchase of school supplies needed for the 2024 Back to School PBC! Event and authorized Spirit of Giving Network, up to $57,500 towards the purchase of school supplies and other necessary items.

Criminal Justice Commission – Approved recommended amendments to the Criminal Justice Commission including its nomination process and increasing its private sector members from 11 to 17 and reduced the public sector members from 21 to 18. Representatives being eliminated are represented on the Law Enforcement Planning Council subcommittee.

Equal Business Opportunity – Approved and amended the Equal Business Opportunity ordinance to include the modification of the sunset date to December 31, 2025 to allow time to solicit, complete and consider the findings of an updated disparity study and fairly monitor and track an uninterrupted period of two years for overall county spend that was altered due to COVID-19 when emergency purchases were not subject to the Equal Business Opportunity program. 

Facilities Development & Operations – Approved contract with Global Spectrum for the operation and management of the Palm Beach County Convention Center from Dec. 1, 2023 through Sept. 30, 2028 at the annual Base Management Fee of $225,000 plus potential to earn additional annual Incentive Fee equivalent not to exceed 40% of the annual Base Management Fee and terminated current Convention Center Operating Agreement with Global effective on Nov. 30, 2023.

Fire Rescue – Approved a preliminary reading and advertisement for a public hearing on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at 9:30 a.m., regarding the adoption of the proposed Palm Beach County Local Amendments to the updated Florida Fire Prevention Code.

Housing & Economic Development – Approved designation of three parcels located at 9845 and 9905 Clint Moore Road as a Brownfield Area, which shall be known as the Verde Commons Green Reuse Area.

Planning Zoning & Building – Directed staff not to oppose the proposed annexations by the City of Palm Beach Gardens and Village of North Palm Beach but will work with municipalities to develop a framework for Palm Beach County to retain control of its properties if annexed and direction to legislative affairs to pursue legislation addressing annexations that solely focus on non-residential property.  

Denied an Interlocal Agreement with the Town of Lake Clarke Shores providing for the annexation of an enclave, known as the Edgewater Park Enclave.
