At the Dec. 19, 2023, Board of County Commissioners meeting, the board took the following action on the consent and regular agenda:

Airports – approved a price agreement for the purchase and delivery of an Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighting vehicle for $1,384,137 for use at Palm Beach International Airport.

County Attorney – approved a resolution amending the Rules of Procedure of the Palm Beach County Administrative Code that apply to public participation during BCC meetings.

Criminal Justice Commission – received and filed the 35-Year Historical Snapshot of the Criminal Justice Commission and Evaluation report on the Efficiency of Pretrial Changes Intended to Reduce Jail Population through Pretrial Services’ Supervision Unit. 

Facilities Development & Operations – approved an agreement for the purchase of three vacant parcels located north of Indiantown Road and east of Bee Line Highway.  These are interior parcels located in an area known as Palm Beach Heights (part of the Pal-Mar Ecosite).  The Pal-Mar Ecosite is part of a large ecological greenway that stretches from just west of the Atlantic Ocean to just east of Lake Okeechobee. 

Fire Rescue – adopted an Ordinance repealing, replacing, and providing updates to the Palm Beach County Fire Prevention Code.

Housing & Economic Development – approved the issuance of Palm Beach County Finance Authority Multifamily Housing Revenue Bonds for $58,000,000 for Boynton Bay Apartments to rehab for 240 units.
Approved, the issuance of Palm Beach County Finance Authority Multifamily Housing Revenue Bonds of not to exceed $100,000,000 for the implementation of its Single Family Homeowner Revenue Bond program.
Approved a State Housing Initiatives Partnership (SHIP) Program award of $1, 262,000 to Diverse Housing, Inc. for Amaryllis Gardens towards the renovation of 43 units to preserve this affordable multifamily development. These are State SHIP program grant funds which require no local match.

Human Resources – denied by a 4-3 vote, a resolution amending staffing to include a total of four (4) County Administrative Assistants for each district Commission Office.

Palm Tran – approved three emergency contract amendments for Palm Tran Connection Services with MV Transportation, Dial-A-Ride/MOD, and First Transit extending the contracts to April 30, 2024 for a net fiscal impact of $19,358,552.

Tourist Development Council – approved an agreement with the PGA Tour, Inc. for presenting sponsor rights requiring “In the Palm Beaches” to be included in the official tournament name, as follows, The Cognizant Classic in the Palm Beaches, for the term December 19, 2023, through December 18, 2024, in the amount of $1,250,000.

Water Utilities – approved an amendment to the Contract for Green Cay Phase 2 Progressive Design-Build with DM Constructors Inc. for $89,634,894. Green Cay Phase 2 includes a water purification system, a new state-of-the-art education/learning facility, a new 63-acre public park, and new water wells and transmission lines.
