At the Board of County Commissioners meeting on April 2, 2024, Mayor Sachs presented a proclamation declaring April 2024 as Second Chance Month in Palm Beach County. Second Chance Month was created after the Second Chance Act, a law passed by Congress in 2008 that supports efforts to improve reentry. The work done by the county’s Public Safety Department and the Reentry Task Force through collaboration with reentry providers, such as The Lord’s Place, The Reentry Center (in Riviera Beach), Integrated Healthcare Systems (in Riviera Beach) and Choice to Change Inc. and other criminal justice partners, have contributed to making Palm Beach County a national leader in reentry services and reducing recidivism.
