​At the May 16, 2017, Board of County Commissioners meeting, the board took the following action:

Convention Center hotel – approved a series of lease amendments with the Convention Center hotel property to include 11,800 square feet of site space for an enclosed loading dock area and an enclosed walkway connecting the hotel with the Convention Center, which was not included in the original leased premises.

Affordable housing – approved an ordinance replacing the county's Affordable Housing Ordinance, which was last amended in 2008. Due to substantive changes made to bring the ordinance into compliance with Florida statutes, county resolutions, and the Local Housing Assistance Plan (LHAP), repealing and replacing the Affordable Housing Ordinance in its entirety is more efficient than amending it.

Pratt & Whitney – approved two economic incentive agreements with Pratt & Whitney: 1) an ad valorem tax exemption of up to $700,000 over a seven-year period and a cash incentive of $300,000 over a four-year period for the company's new Florida Engine Delivery Center in North County. The company is required to make a $63 million capital investment, create 230 new jobs over a 10-year period at an annual average wage of $81,000, and maintain those jobs for five years. 2) an ad valorem tax exemption of up to $650,000 over a six-year period for Pratt & Whitney's radial Auxiliary Power Unit, relocated from San Diego. The company is required to make a minimum $25 million capital investment, create 110 new jobs over a three-year period at an annual average wage of approximately $85,000, and maintain them for five years.

Water main – adopted a resolution confirming a special assessment to install a potable water main serving 18 residential properties on 68^th Street North in The Acreage, and approved a construction contract with Johnson-Davis Inc. in the amount of $199,512.

Stacy Street – adopted a resolution abandoning public interest in a 550-foot dedication south of Stacy Street, known as Stacy Road. The public dedication is in conflict with future redevelopment plans for Haverhill Acres, LLC; petition is subject to a privilege fee of approximately $49,000.

Street lighting – approved $403,000 for six street lighting projects to install a total of 605 new street lamps for arterial and intersection-approach lighting. LED lights will be used wherever possible.

Administrator's contract – approved a five-year contract extension with County Administrator Verdenia Baker through August 25, 2022. The administrator's current annual salary is $273,183.

Animal care – adopted a resolution urging the US Department of Agriculture to reactivate the animal care research tool on its website to make animal welfare records publicly accessible.

Historic buildings – approved resolutions and restrictive covenants granting tax exemptions totaling approximately $14,000 for six historic properties in West Palm Beach.
