Seeking Palm Beach County Veterans for Wall of Honor
West Palm Beach, FL - The West Palm Beach Library Foundation is seeking Palm Beach County veterans who have served in the US military to be a part of an exhibition entitled “Star Spangled Heroes.” This exhibition which will be on display from October 10 to December 7, 2014 at the Mandel Public Library of West Palm Beach will pay tribute to men and women who reside in the county and served in the US military.
To be on the Wall of Honor of the display veterans should obtain an application located at www.WPBLF.org under Star Spangled Heroes. All veterans who submit applications and meet eligibility criteria will be listed on the exhibition’s Wall of Honor.
During the two months when the display is presented, the Library Foundation will host films on veterans, a meet the author event with a Vietnam War Army illustrator, a high school essay contest on military service offering cash awards to winners, a gathering with a World War II Life Magazine photographer, a panel of women who share their experiences as soldiers and veterans, a letter writing by kids program to veterans living in convalescent centers and other programs which focus on the US armed services and veterans.

This year in conjunction with May is Mental Health Month and Memorial Day, the Library through the Consumer Health Information Service (CHIS) Palm Beach County Library System
be hosting programming to honor and support our veterans.
Working with the Public Affairs Officer, Mary Anne Goodman, from the West Palm Beach VA Medical Center, they have put together a series of three programs about Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). PTSD is a debilitating disorder for people who have experienced the trauma of military combat, assault, or disaster.
Professionals from VA Medical Center have been invited to educate the public about PTSD and its impact on the men and women who have served our country.

Palm Beach County Division of Human Services & Veteran Services during Outreach at the 2013 Veteran's Day Parade in West Palm Beach.
Assists and counsels former and current members of the Armed Forces who reside in Palm Beach County. Services include assistance in preparing and filing claims for benefits for which they are entitled under federal, state, and local laws. Dependents and survivors of present or former members of the Armed Forces may be eligible for the services of this program.
