Palm Beach County’s
This program is funded through an innovative partnership of the Federal Home Loan Bank of Atlanta and Palm Beach County.
I am in need of veteran volunteers (or those who want to help veterans) to create teams for Veteran Services' portion of the PIT. I have a few so far, but need at least 72 people to create the Veteran Services teams (6 shifts, x 4 teams, x 3 people per team.) We will be doing 4-hour shifts, for a 24-hour duration. It is imperative that I have veterans on my teams, as we will be responsible for finding, surveying and validating homeless veterans. During the 100,000 Homes Campaign last year, I discovered that veterans were much more willing to converse, and participate, in the count if they were approached by a veteran. Hence, the focus on veteran teams. Please pass on to anyone you know who is a veteran and willing to participate. If we fill up the veteran teams, I am hoping that the surplus would not mind assisting other teams throughout Palm Beach County. This is a major undertaking, and has never been done this way before. I want to show we have veterans who are compassionate, dedicated and open to helping make life better for other veterans by participating only a few hours of their time. What we will do directly affects funding for HUD/VASH (HUD VA Subsidized Housing) and community homeless programs.
