Condo Gardening Tips

March 2005

By Gene Joyner, Extension Agent
Palm Beach County Cooperative Extension Service

Landscapes now are starting to kick into high gear for our growing season with the return of consistent warm temperatures. This month everything should be fertilized in the landscape and if you have flower beds that don’t look as great as they should some of this may be due to our leftover winter damage that some people experienced.

Remember that plants will take several weeks before they really start looking the way that you’d really like, but fertilizing will help to speed that up.

Don’t forget the Condo Field Day on Thursday, March 17, at Sugar Sands Condominium on Singer Island. This is a walk through for condo managers and landscape and board members to look at typical condominium ground problems and hear suggestions for solutions.

If you haven’t gotten a copy of the field day circular, you can call the Extension office at 233-1759 and get one mailed to you or just show up on the 17th at Sugar Sands Condo on Singer Island about half a mile north of the bridge across the intracoastal.

If you have problems in landscapes that you need assistance with, don’t forget that the Extension Service is a valuable resource that’s largely under utilized by many condominiums. You can call us at 233-1750 in the north and central county area or 276-1260 in the south county area and get horticultural questions answered at any time.
