Condo Gardening Tips
October 2006
By Gene Joyner, Extension Agent
Palm Beach County Cooperative Extension Service
This month it’s time for the fall feeding of your landscape to get it in good condition for the upcoming winter season. Don’t forget to fertilize everything because plants that go into the winter months in a weakened condition could show less vigor and also start to yellow out and become unattractive.
This is a good time for putting out weed killers now if you have weed problems in turfgrass areas and in flower beds and ornamental areas use heavy layers of mulch to discourage weed competition.
Many properties are now putting in their winter bedding plants and this is a good time to do it and most nurseries that sell bedding plants have good inventories so you shouldn’t have a shortage of your favorites.
We will have a condo field day this month. You should receive a mailing on this and this will be a walk through at an area property looking at typical condo problems.
If you have questions about landscape maintenance at this time of year and want some advice, call the Extension Service at 233-1750 in the north and central county areas or 276-1260 in the south county areas.
