Demonstrations at the Everglades
Research and Education Center, Belle Glade
Preemergence herbicide demonstrations
A demonstration of preemergence herbicide treatments for weed control
in sugarcane is being conducted in three 20 acre fields. The purpose
of the demonstration is to compare several preemergence treatments
and to demonstrate that weed control can be adequate with minimal
or no cultivation.
The preemergence demonstration treatments are:
- Atrazine at 3lbs/A + Evik at 1 lb/A
- Prowl H2O at 8pts/A + Sencor at 1 lb/A
- Prowl H2o at 8pts/A
Rice seeding rate demonstrations and variety trials
Rice was seeded at 40, 60, 80, 100, and 120 lbs/A to determine
the rate of seeding rate on yield. The rice was seeded on April
27, 2004 and the cultivar is ‘Cocodrie’. In addition
to the seeding rate demonstration a variety trial is being conducted
in the same field. The variety trial includes several new conventional
varieties and 5 hybrid varieties.
