Palm Beach County Production
A leader in the production of fresh market vegetables, Palm Beach
County is fortunate to be one of the few places in the United States
where crops can be grown during the winter season. Because of the
influences  of
the Gulf Stream, local ocean breezes and the water catchments areas
to the west, our growing regions are typically the warmest farmed
areas of land in the continental United States during the months
of October through May. There are two distinct growing areas in
Palm Beach County: the Everglades
Agricultural Area (EAA) and the coastal sandlands.
In the EAA, significant acreage of sweet corn, leaf and head lettuce,
radishes, celery, and snap beans are grown every year. In addition
to the EAA, Palm Beach County also has a large amount of acreage
dedicated to the production of bell peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers,
eggplant, Chinese vegetables, and herbs located in the Boca Raton,
Delray Beach, and Boynton Beach area. Palm Beach County leads the
state of Florida, and in some cases, the United States, in the production
of sweet corn, radishes, celery, specialty lettuce, bell peppers,
cucumbers, Chinese vegetables, eggplant, and herbs.
