Parks and Recreation Presents “Visions of Sugarplums”

 

The Visions of Sugarplums program provides a free phone call from Santa or Mrs. Claus to

children from ages 3 to 9 who live in Palm Beach County. The Clauses will chat with children

about their holiday wishes. If you would like your child or children to talk to Santa, call

(561) 963-6796 to receive a registration form. To register, parents must provide specific

details about their child, such as name, sex, age, school, teacher, grade and hobbies and

any Christmas wishes.

 

Forms can be sent to “Santa” at 2700 6th Avenue South Lake Worth, FL 33461.

Come to the Circus at Your Library

 

The Ringling Brothers Barnum & Bailey Circus, “Ambassados of Laughter”  Cherie and Dave will entertain with a reading of “If I Ran the Circus by Dr. Suess followed by some clowning around, such as plate spinning, juggling and a little bit of majic. Bring the whole family! Call the location nearest you to pre-register.

Donate Recreation Equipment This Holiday Season

 

Please join the Parks and Recreation Department employees in bringing the holiday spirit to Glades area recreation agencies by donating new or gently-used recreation equipment to use in their leisure programs. Please bring unwrapped donations to the locations listed below from November 26 to December 31st, 2007. (Gift cards from stores that carry recreation supplies will also be accepted, but  no cash please.) Examples of items needed include recreation supplies, sporting goods, arts and crafts supplies and nature supplies. Drop-off locations are at the Daggerwing Nature Center in Boca Raton and the Green Cay Nature Center in Boynton Beach. For more information, call Adrienne Huisman at (561) 966-7054.

Fourth Annual Photography Series at Mounts Botanical Garden

 

Explore your creativity through the medium of photography. A series of programs hosted by Mounts Botanical Garden and presented by John J. Lopinot, Deputy Director of Photography for The Palm Beach Post will launch you on a creative journey through the art of digital photography.

 

In preparation for Mounts Fourth Annual Photography Contest, John J. Lopinot, will present a primer on entering a winning photo in a contest. John will show photos and discuss Mounts Photography Contest rules to clarify points particular to our photo contest.

·        The Palm Beach County Kids Bass Fishing Trail will kick off on Saturday, December 8th at John Prince Park/Osborne Pavilion. The event will be held from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. and is open to kids ages 16 and under. Prizes will be awarded to the top anglers. Registration is ongoing until all slots are full. ·        Get up close and personal with some of the thousands of species of inspects that have been identified on the Earth at the Green Cay Nature Center.  Observe, touch and learn about some of the most amazing creatures in the world!
