Historic Marker to be Unveiled in Jupiter's Limestone Creek Community


Vice Mayor Hal R. Valeche and other county officials and community leaders will join together with Limestone Creek residents on Saturday, April 30, at 10 a.m. in Limestone Creek Park to unveil a historic marker. The park is located at 18301 Limestone Creek Road, Jupiter.

The marker is part of an ongoing initiative by the Loxahatchee River Historical Society to recognize and honor the significant contributions made by the African American community to the history of Jupiter and northern Palm Beach County. Education was a high priority for the African-American community in Limestone Creek. Denied access to Jupiter's public schools by the laws of segregation, they opened a school of their own.
