Commissioner Robert J. Kanjian was appointed by Governor Charlie Crist on August 17, 2007 to complete the term for District III of the Palm Beach County Board of County Commissioners.  On August 23rd, he was sworn into office by Judge Robin Rosenberg with his wife, Anne, and their two children, Jack, 9, and Hannah, 7, present.

Bob was born in New York and raised in Maryland.  He received his bachelor of arts degree in government and politics as well as his juris doctor degree from the University of Maryland.  His mother is a retired public school teacher and his father is a retired police officer with the District of Columbia.

In 1996, he and his wife relocated to Palm Beach County and in 1998 he started Title Matters LLC, a title insurance agency, in West Palm Beach.  Two years later, he started Building Solutions LLC, which provides administrative and sales services to homebuilders.  Bob is licensed to practice law in Maryland, the District of Columbia and Florida.  He previously served as a member and later as chairman of the Palm Beach County Environmental Appeal Board.

In 2006, he successfully ran for a position on the Palm Beach County School Board, a position he held until his appointment as a County Commissioner.  In March 2008, he was appointed by Governor Crist as a member of the statewide Autism Task Force.  His intent is to urge the Florida legislature to provide insurance opportunities that will cover early detection and treatment of autism and see that services become widely available for families dealing with autism.  In April 2008, the Board of County Commissioners appointed him to chair the “Palm Beach Goes Green Task Force on Sustainability and Conservation.”  The goal of the Task Force is to prepare a Green Building Ordinance to have the government lead by example in its daily operations and to encourage new buildings and existing buildings to use green standards.

His present term as County Commissioner will expire in November 2008 and he has filed for re-election.
