Recreation Assistance Projects

The Recreation Assistance Program is a perfect example of intergovernmental partnerships and the pooling of resources throughout the County for projects that directly benefit the community. Each County Commissioner was provided with the opportunity to allocate $200,000 annually for “recreational” discretionary projects such as playgrounds, parks, community centers and after-school and cultural programs. Listed below are Commissioner McCarty’s allocations for fiscal year 2007/2008, representing a wide range of diverse projects countywide. However, in 2008, the Recreation Assistance Program was eliminated due to budgetary cutbacks.
