- Introduced new Solid Waste Authority bidding process dubbed “Aaronson Method” by fellow Commissioners - process saves taxpayers $76 million over a ten-year period
- Initiated search for an alternate location for the “Site One” landfill; land exchange completed 2/96
- Derailed the Bullet Train in 1998, a potential $22 Billion boondoggle to taxpayers

- Initiated the Palm Beach County Trigger Lock Ordinance mandating locking devices of firearms
- Reorganized DEBT (Derail the Bullet Train) to reverse the 1999 referendum mandating a bullet train
- Instrumental in getting the Royal Palm Beach Yacht and Country Club to eliminate its membership discrimination practices
- Responsible for the installation of illuminated street signs in District 5 at a cost of $800,000
- Fought and won the addition of a provision in the Palm Beach County Vegetation Preservation Ordinance to protect older communities saving residents millions of dollars
- Supported School Concurrency
- Responsible for Palm Beach County’s “Trees Only” and “OTIS” programs for median beautification
- Instrumental in the success of the 2002 $55 million Library bond referendum and the 2002 $50 a million Parks, Recreation and Cultural Projects bond referendum
- Convinced the Palm Beach County Metropolitan Planning Organization to spend $1 million in State distributed federal funds to help drivers offset the cost of joining the Turnpike Sunpass Program
- Persuaded the Turnpike Authority to re-evaluate its proposed toll rate increase for the area from Boynton Beach Blvd. to Glades Rd. which ultimately led the Authority to rescind its proposal
- As Chair from 1996-1998, worked with Fire Rescue and the Sheriff to prohibit the use of fireworks during drought situations
- Initiated and strongly supported the following safeguards regarding the sale and use of fireworks: 1998 - amendment to the County’s Zoning Code to allow only the sale of sparklers from tents; 2003 - amendment to the County’s Zoning Code to limit the sale of fireworks to industrial areas only; 2004 - amendment to the County’s Zoning Code that added provisions making the Code one of the strictest Codes in the State of Florida
- Initiated the Palm Beach County Water Utilities Department’s Generator Purchase, Operation and Maintenance Program
- Represented the County Commission in negotiations with The Scripps Research Institute

- A native of Brooklyn, New York and former resident of Ft. Lee, New Jersey, Commissioner Aaronson and his wife of 59 years, Sheila, have two sons, four grandsons and a granddaughter
