In April 2002, the Board of County Commissioners allocated $18.5 million to be obtained by selling public improvement revenue and refunding bonds for the restoration of the 1916 Court House. The total contract price for renovations was $18,965,019.

The County has received two grants from the State for this project. A grant in the amount of $ 300,000 (with a Local Cost Share of $2,739,192) was allocated for the relocation and erection of the original 12 columns and the related architectural and engineering work. The second grant in the amount of $356,526 (with a Local Cost Share of $589,290) was used for the selective demolition, structural and concrete repairs, installation of HVAC and electrical systems, restoration of interior historical finishes, and associated architectural and engineering consultant services. (Note: Local Cost Share is the matching County funds for the grant.)
