The cities in the five target site areas of Riviera Beach, West Palm Beach, Lake Worth, Boynton Beach, and Belle Glade were asked to prepare Youth Violence Prevention Project proposals with a budget for presentation to the Board of County Commissioners Budget Workshop on July 13, 2006. Riviera Beach, West Palm Beach, Lake Worth, and Belle Glade submitted proposals. The budget for the four sites was presented at the BCC Workshop with a request for 3.5 million dollars. The BCC set aside 2 million dollars for the project.
The cities are refining their plans and budgets for final presentation to the BCC. Inter-local Agreements for the cities and Memorrandums of Understanding and contracts for the countywide programs are being prepared for review by a subcommittee of the Steering Committee.
The Youth Workgroup is working with the cities to develop their Youth Advisory Councils. They are also acting as a panel on the Youth Violence at the High Ridge Resource Fair on Augest 7 at 9:30am.
