The Palm Beach County Division of Emergency Management's training programs address the overall training needs for both the Division staff as well as all County personnel that assemble during the activation of the Emergency Operation Center (EOC). Mandates by the Department of Homeland Security have greatly expanded the need for training of all County employees, including the Board of County Commissioners and County Administration staff that have a defined role in emergency/disaster decision making, response, recovery and/or mitigation.
Federal law dictates that the receipt of specific funding from the federal government to the County be dependent upon the full compliance of County personnel to the new training requirements under the National Response Plan. The Training Coordinator tracks the training completed by each individual, and ensures that all training opportunities related to Emergency/Disaster Management are properly disseminated to County, municipal and non-governmental partner agencies.
