  • While local authorities will initially seal off and patrol disaster sites, their resources may be insufficient to protect all areas.
  • In the case of a major hurricane, the National Guard or even the military may be called in to help with security, but they may not be familiar with the area or who legitimately belongs there.
  • If the risk warrants, you may want to consider contracting private security until such time as you can properly secure your property.
