The State has a brownfield program, and also offers brownfield incentives through the Office of Tourism, Trade and Economic Development. The State brownfield program requires that a qualifying site or area be designated as a brownfield through a resolution adopted by the local government.

Benefits Include:

  • certain liability protection

  • clean-up standards which are tied to how the property will be used

  • tax credits

State Criteria:

  • an agreement to clean up and redevelop the site

  • adequate financial resources

  • job creation resulting from the reuse of the property

  • consistency with local comprehensive plan

  • public notice

The State brownfield program and incentives are explained at this website: Florida Department of Environmental Protection.

The local Department of Environmental Protection brownfield contact is Lee Hoefert:  (561) 681-6676, email at:  lee.hoefert@dep.state.fl.us
