Lake Worth Lagoon Lantana Cove Enhancement

The Lake Worth Lagoon Lantana Cove Enhancement will entail construction of a mangrove planter along the seawall of Bi-centennial park in Lantana Florida. The planter will consist of 13 4'x4'x3'2" concrete catch basins which will be placed along a 32' long stretch of the seawall. 5 of the catch basins will be placed seaward of the 8 catch basins along the seawall. This will create a greater area for mangrove planting. The total width of the planter will be 13' where the planter has 2 rows of catch basins. These basins will buried to allow the top of the basins to be placed at an elevation of 1.7' NGVD. The basins will then be lined with filter cloth and filled with of a planting substrate. The seaward edge of the planters will be lined with limestone rock rip rap to function as a wave break. The rock will extend seaward of the planters themselves. The 78 red mangrove seedlings will then be placed inside the planters.

In addition, an educational kiosk will be constructed and placed within Bi-centennial park. This kiosk will contain educational material describing the unique ecosystem that is the Lake Worth Lagoon.
