More than 275 environmental professional, educators, residents, industry and community leaders converged at Palm Beach Atlantic University on May 16 for the Lake Worth Lagoon Symposium. Researchers, managers, and local government officials shared updates on the state of the lagoon, conservation and habitat enhancement efforts, and economic aspects of the lagoon.

More Lake Worth Lagoon News: Palm Beach County and its partners are in the process of updating the 1998 Lake Worth Lagoon Management Plan. Copies of the draft 2007 management plan are now available online. Go to www.co.palm-beach.fl.us/erm and follow the link under "Hot Topics" to the plan update.

"Listening Meetings" are being scheduled to receive feedback on the draft management plan. The first Listening Meeting was held on June 27, 2007 at Palm Beach County's Vista Center Complex. Comments received at the meeting and via email are now being incorporated into a 2nd draft of the plan. Once the 2nd draft is complete, the comment period will be re-opened and a second "Listening Meeting" will be held. Stay tuned for additional information regarding the upcoming comment period and listening meetings.
