Homestead Exemption 355-2866 • GC-1st Floor
Every permanent resident in Florida who has legal title to their property
as of January 1 of the qualifying year is eligible for the $25,000 Homestead
Exemption. Proof of legal residence is required. Now applications can be
mailed or taken in person at any of the Property Appraiser's Office five Service
Centers. Other exemptions may be available, such as $5,000 for
Disabled Veterans or $500 Widow/Widower. You can apply for the Homestead
Exemption benefit at any time throughout the year but the deadline for the
initial year is March 1.
