Delray Progress by Carlos Alves & Andrew Reid
Medium:
Mixed Media
Year Completed: 2005
Location: South County Courthouse
200 West Atlantic Avenue, Delray Beach, FL 33444

“Delray Progress,” features a 3,300 sq. foot mural (80 gallons paint), a 14 ft’ sculptural ceramic pineapple bench, and painted ceramic bench tops & seating areas. The mural was created by Andrew Reid and team. The benches were created by Carlos Alves and team. “Delray Progress” celebrates community diversity, and depicts stories of past & present with images of the people, flora, fauna, and industry which have shaped the unique character of Delray Beach and South County.  “Delray Progress,” along Atlantic Avenue, has transformed a previously under-used outdoor seating area to an artful and welcoming “pocket-park” for residents and visitors to the County Courthouse, Delray Beach library and downtown Delray Beach to enjoy.

Light Swimming by Mark T. Fuller

Medium: Mixed Media
Year Completed:
2007
Location:
South County Civic Center
16700 Jog Road, Delray Beach, FL 33446

“Light Swimming” continually delights the passersby with its shifting appearance, dawn to dusk. The spectacular “light show,” primarily controlled by the sun’s position in the sky, creates an ever-changing wash of colors and shadows across the building. At dusk, the wall mounted “prismatic sconces,” with solar powered L.E.D lights, illuminate the building’s facades for a dramatic effect. The addition of dimensional hemispheres compliments the diagonal grid of the building. Through light and shadow artist Mark T. Fuller’s design is an evolution of the architect's vision of letting the building's mass and form speak for itself.
