Each
of the seven themed classrooms in
the Head Start facility was designed
to stimulate learning, imagination
and engage students in the Head
Start curriculum. Walls and murals
integrate seamlessly with the vinyl
and carpet floor treatments. The
overall “surround scene” effect
immerses students and teachers in
truly unique learning environments.
As
is typical of Palm Beach County’s
Art in Public Places project
development, the artwork was created
through a dynamic interaction
between the artists Demetrius McCray
and David L. Moore, architect
(Stephen L. Boruff, AIA Architects + Planners, Inc.), facility users (Head Start Administration
and teachers), interested
constituents (student’s parents) and
Palm Beach County’s Facilities
Development & Operations staff. The
project architect led the team’s
early conceptual design development
for each classroom.
