Congratulations to Chief Steve Jerauld, recently promoted to Fire Chief!

The Deputy Chief of Operations is responsible for overseeing the delivery of Fire and EMS services by the Operations Division. This includes over 1200 personnel working from 45 fire stations throughout the county. Reporting to the Deputy Chief of Operations is Division Chief Al Sierra (Operational Battalions), Division Chief Bill Peters (EMS), Division Chief Vicki Sheppard (Training and Safety Division), Captain Iden Miller (Office of Professional Regulation), and Alicia Kula (Community Assistance Team Coordinator).

The Deputy Chief of Operations is also responsible for coordinating all areas of labor relations with our firefighter's union, Local 2928 of the International Association of Firefighters.

Division Chief Bill Peters
Division Chief Bill Peters

Division Chief William Peters is responsible for the Emergency Medical Service delivery provided by Palm Beach County Fire-Rescue. This includes all medications, medical equipment, medical protocols, and medical direction. Chief Peters has supervision responsibilities of three Staff Captains and 30 Operational Emergency Medical Service Captains. He is also responsible for overseeing the Departments staffing process, Medical Quality Assurance Program, all County and State Licensing requirements and assisting with Labor Relations with our Fire Fighters Union.

Chief Peters has been in the Fire Service for over 28 years. He started in 1980 as a Fire Fighter/EMT with Lantana Fire Rescue and in 1982 became an employee of Fire District 7, Trail Park Fire Department and became Fire Fighter Paramedic. He was promoted to Lieutenant in 1988, to Captain in 2000, and then to Division Chief in 2005.

Division Chief James St. Pierre
Division Chief James St. Pierra

Division Chief James St. Pierre is responsible for overseeing the delivery of Fire Suppression and Mitigation Services by the Operations Division. This includes over 1200 personnel working from 45 fire stations throughout the county. Reporting to Chief St. Pierre are the Operational Battalion Chiefs. He is also responsible for oversight of the Fire Operations Officers.

Chief St. Pierre started his career in 1977 with Jupiter Fire Control District 1, at the ripe old age of 19. He was promoted to Lieutenant and completed Paramedic school in 1981. He worked in Battalion 1 as a Lieutenant and Paramedic until 1987 when he was promoted to EMS District Chief on days at what is now Station 31. In 1990 the department formed a new position of Special Operations District Chief and Chief St.Pierre took a lateral move to that position. In 1994 Chief Iacona formed a District Chief floating squad and St. Pierre was asked to be a floating District Chief. He worked in this position until 1996 when the department disbanded the floating squad. For the next three years Chief St.Pierre was assigned to B shift in Battalion 5. In 1999 the department brought back the floating squad and again Chief St. Pierre took a position on this squad. Chief St. Pierre was promoted to the rank of Battalion Chief in 2001 and was assign to HQ and the staffing Chief. Chief St. Pierre has an AS degree in Fire Science. He also has been on one of the State of Florida's Incident Command teams since 1999, where he holds the position of Deputy Incident Commander on the Gold team.
