Note: Communication Workers of America (CWA) bargaining unit employees have separate policies for sick leave and grievance procedures. International Association of Firefighters (IAFF) employees have separate policies for sick leave, vacation, holidays, grievance procedures, insurance and tuition reimbursement.

Sick Leave

 
  • CWA:
    • 8 days per year
      • Leave beyond 8 days:
      • Full-time employees shall receive 85% of regular, straight-time earnings up to 30 days in accordance with years of service and Labor-Management Agreement schedule
      • Employees with 6 or more years of service: 65% of regular, straight-time earnings beginning with 31st day and ending as specified in agreement
    • Payment for unused sick-leave shall be made to the employee in the form of a bonus check in a lump sum amount at the end of the calendar year provided the employee is still on the payroll at that time
  • Non-Bargaining Units:
    • 13 paid sick leave days each year, with no limit on accumulation of time
    • Payment for 10% of unused sick leave up to 500 hours upon separation after 10 years of continuous service
