The Information Systems Services (ISS) Department serves as the primary information technology support agency for most of the departments reporting to the Board of County Commissioners, as well as some of the constitutional officers in Palm Beach County. In addition, some local governments and other tax-supported agencies are connected to the County's wide area network.
ISS provides a broad range of IT services, including: installation and maintenance of the County's fiber network; technical support for computing platforms, including Unix and Windows servers, desktop computers, laptops, tablet PCs, printers and smart phones; developing new software applications and supporting more than 350 existing applications; Oracle database development and maintenance; enterprise GIS; installation and maintenance of all landline and cellular telephones and related equipment, including Voice over IP; video conferencing; IT project management; 24x7 Help Desk; user training; enterprise software licensing; document imaging and scanning; and various key administrative activities, including IT resource management, IT standards, security, business continuity, and quality assurance.
Our primary focus in all that we do is customer service. With the increasing reliance on Internet access to County information, services, and systems, our customer base has expanded to include not only County employees, business partners, taxpayers and citizens, but also the public at large.
