  • The Mounts Botanical Garden has a "First Saturday Master Gardener Weeding Party" for the garden every first Saturday of each month with Lois Mahony and Tom Hewitt, December 5th, 8am-11am. For more information, contact Allen Sistrunk at 561.233.1751.
  • Mounts Botanical Garden Fall 2009 Plant Sale, November 7th and 8th, 559 N. Military Trail.Volunteer to answer plant questions in the Master Gardener Plant Clinic Booth or sell plants for ‘The Guild’ call Carolyn Martino at 233-1759 to sign-up and let her know which area you would like to volunteer...the guild plant sale area or the Master Gardener Plant Clinic. Plant Sale Preview for Friends of the Mounts Botanical Garden, Saturday 8:00AM to 9:00AM, General Public hours. Saturday 9:00AM -5:00PM and Sunday 9:00AM-4:00PM.

Educational Opportunities

 
  • Fall 2009 Master Gardener Class Began this September.
    • Master Gardener classes take place on consecutive Wednesdays now until Wednesday, December 23, 2009-Graduation.
    • Consider auditing the new MG training classes of your choice to get updated with the latest research from the University of Florida.
    • Fall Master Gardener Training Program Schedule
  • Master Gardener Volunteers and the Palm Beach County Cooperative Extension Service Staff are now able to seek the advice of Ken Pernezny, Professor Emeritus- Plant Pathologist,  here at the Mounts Building every Thursday from 8AMto 4:30 PM. Ken will be on hand to help Extension agents and Master Gardener Volunteers with plant disease problem diagnosis and recommendations. Ken’s specialty was vegetable diseases at the Belle Glade Research Center, but he is also interested in helping us in the diagnosis of ornamental plant diseases. Please welcome our new volunteer Ken Pernezny.
  • Gene Joyner invites Master Gardeners to come by his ‘Unbelievable Acres’ Botanical Garden to purchase Gene’s own propagated garden plants at  50% off. You must call Gene Joyner at 686-6687 a few days in advance to let him know that you will coming by to make your garden plant selection purchase. 
  • January 2010 Master Gardener Monthly Educational Meeting, Thursday, January 7, 2010, 1:30-2:30PM. "Palm Beach County Centennial, Our 100 Year History including "Tropical Fruit Introductions" presented by Master Gardener, Larry Grosser; Larry also volunteers as a tour guide and demonstrates grafting for Gene Joyner's Botanical Garden "Unbelievable Acres". Larry has also presented the Grafting 101 program for the Master Gardener Volunteer Training Program.
