The primary documents of the Palm Beach MPO are the Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) and the Long Range Transportation Plan (LRTP). Each document focuses on different timelengths--the TIP is a short-term, five-year work program guide of imminent and near-term transportation projects. An example would be the FDOT's resurfacing schedule for state roads over the next five years.

The Long Range Transportation Plan is updated every 5 years. We are required to have a 20 year horizon. This long-range forecast is based on county-wide needs identified through the process of forecasting future travel demand, evaluating system alternatives, and selecting those options which best meet the mobility needs of the county considering financial, environmental, and social constraints. The LRTP is updated every three years.
