Park Expansion Continues In Jupiter Farms Community
County officials, joined by community residents and representatives of the Jupiter-Tequesta Athletic Association (JTAA), dedicated the recent expansion of Jupiter Farms Park on Saturday, January 26. “We love working with JTAA,” said Commissioner Karen T. Marcus, “and being able to provide fields for all their sports activities. Without the efforts of all the volunteers of JTAA, services like theirs wouldn’t be available.” Jupiter Farms Park, once the site of a strip mine, is now a popular park in the Jupiter Farms community. Earlier phases of development included one lighted softball field, two lighted baseball fields, a two-story press box with restrooms, a playground, and parking. Saturday’s dedication celebrated the addition of two new lighted multipurpose (football/soccer) fields, additional parking, a 2.25-acre lake, a wetland conservation area, and open areas. JTAA President Sheril Jalm congratulated fellow members of the organization on their 41st year of service in the Jupiter Farms community. Since its inception in 1967, JTAA has grown to include over 1,000 athletes, and additional facilities like those available in Jupiter Farms Park are needed and appreciated. She praised Palm Beach County as a partner in its ongoing efforts to respond to the needs of JTAA. “The sun is shining on us and it’s a beautiful day,” declared Lois Taylor, President of Jupiter Farms Residents, Inc, “and this is a beautiful park. For that we have Palm Beach County to thank. We are delighted to have these new ballfields.” Marcus also announced plans to begin construction of the new equestrian rings soon, as well as plans to move Fire Station #14 from its current location adjacent to the park to Indiantown Road. The vacated building will be made available for community meetings. Additional news included the recent acquisition of a 238-acre property on the corner of Jupiter Farms Road and Indiantown Road that will provide equestrian access from Jupiter Farms directly into Riverbend Park. “Riverbend park—with its biking, hiking, and canoeing opportunities—is now open seven days a week,” she added. “We are committed to maintaining a great park system like the one we have and to continuing to expand it.” Jupiter Farms Park is located at 16655 Jupiter Farms Road, approximately 1.2 miles south of Indiantown Road, in Jupiter.
