Event Reminder
Date: Jan. 13, 2009 Time: 5 p.m. Where: Northwest corner of the Palm Beach County Convention Center 650 Okeechobee Boulevard, West Palm Beach, FL 33401
The Board of County Commissioners will be in attendance for the illumination of the Convention Center’s first public art project that is distinctively unique as it is artwork on the exterior of the facility. The “Wave” is clearly visible during the day and night and will delight drivers along Okeechobee Boulevard.
Designed by internationally renowned artist Barbara Grygutis, “Wave” is composed of five 30-foot sculptural arcs made of perforated aluminum and kinetic LED lights. At night the lights cycle through shades of blue, evoking the rolls of waves as they cascade onto the shoreline. By day, natural light moves through the sculpture forming undulating moiré patterns. Already a landmark building in downtown West Palm Beach, the Convention Center’s first public art installation, “Wave,” is sure to become a nationally recognized icon for the facility.
