Boca Student Honored by Commissioner Abrams

On Friday, January 22, 2010, Commissioner Abrams presented a Certificate of Commendation to Bruno Faviero, a 16-year-old junior at Boca Raton High School.   The certificate is in honor and recognition of Bruno for recently receiving the highest score in the United States on the Cambridge International AS Level Marine Science Exam. 

“I have known Bruno and his family over the years and his ability to score number one in the nation is truly an awe-inspiring and significant achievement.  Bruno emulates the qualities of a future leader and achiever,” said Abrams.  The exam, which is extremely difficult, is world renowned and leading universities and employers will recognize top national scorers like Bruno as proof of their extraordinary academic ability.  

The presentation took place during Leadership Class with Ms. DiLorenzo, Leadership Teacher and Dr. McKee, Principal.  The Commissioner also provided some insight on his leadership role  and current challenges that he is addressing concerning the budget and public safety.   The students also had an opportunity to discuss concerns important to them such as environmental issues, ethics reform and Haitian relief efforts.
