County Commissioner Jess Santamaria welcomed Palm Beach County Tax Collector Anne Gannon and state Rep. Mark Pafford (District 85) to his monthly community forum on Jan. 19 at the original Wellington Mall. About 50 west-central area residents attended.

Gannon discussed a number of services offered by her offices, in particular driver license issuance and renewal. She explained the importance of becoming Real ID compliant, as required by the federal government, and the documentation you will need to bring when you register. Gannon also mentioned that her Royal Palm Beach office in the Midwestern Communities Services Center has reopened on a limited basis – Thursdays and Fridays.

Rep. Mark Pafford discussed several important issues and appropriations that will be debated in Tallahassee in the legislative session that begins in March. Key topics, he said, will be reapportionment, local funding mandates, education, health care, Medicaid reform, and the need to update Florida’s outdated tax structure. The second-term Democrat said he anticipates many challenges in dealing with a new governor and Cabinet, and a Republican-controlled House.
