Four-lane roadway to be completed by 2010
Palm Beach County Board of County Commissioners have approved a $15 million contract for the construction of a four-lane extension of Hypoluxo Road from west of Lyons Road to Hagen Ranch Road, with an overpass over Florida’s Turnpike.
The extension will connect Hypoluxo Road between Lyons and Hagen Ranch Roads and will help relieve traffic on Boynton Beach Boulevard and Lantana Road.
Hypoluxo Road currently dead-ends west of Hagen Ranch Road and continues again on Lyons Road. The new extension will provide the “missing link” between the two roadways, Roadway Production Division Director Omelio Fernandez said.
“By adding this new Hypoluxo thoroughfare, it will ease east-west traffic congestion in the west Boynton Beach area,” Commissioner Bob Kanjian said. “It will also improve our fire-rescue emergency response times from Station 48 at Lyons and Hypoluxo Roads. Our residents in that area have been looking forward to this connection for some time.”
Construction of the project is expected to be complete in the summer of 2010. The project was awarded to West Palm Beach-based Ranger Constructions Industries, Inc.
