Commissioner Kanjian Digs Libraries

As the keynote speaker, Commissioner Kanjian reflected on his love of libraries instilled in him at a young age by his mother who was a teacher.

Commissioner Bob Kanjian recently participated in the ground-breaking ceremony for a new County Library at the southwest corner of Lantana and Lawrence Roads.

The Lantana Road Branch Library is one of five projects currently underway as part of the Library Expansion Program.  This expansion program is part of a $55 million bond referendum passed by County residents in 2002.  The proposal passed by an overwhelming 70 percent approval.

After the ceremony, Commissioner Kanjian is interviewed by the County's Channel 20. He noted that the library is scheduled to open in the summer 2009 and it will feature many amenities for students as well as seniors.

Following his comments, Commissioner Kanjian lined up (third from left) with other dignitaries in attendance to break ground for the new library.
