BCC to Host Rock Mining Summit March 19

The Palm Beach County Board of County Commissioners will convene a Rock Mining Summit on March 19, 2008 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Clayton Hutcheson Agricultural Center, 559 N. Military Trail, West Palm Beach. The purpose is to bring stakeholders together to determine an appropriate process for reviewing at the local level applications for mining in the Everglades Agricultural Area (EAA).

Discussion topics are tentatively slated to include an update on the Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan (CERP), potential permitting procedures for mining in the EAA, geological mapping of the EAA including financial aspects of future data collection, and public comments and questions.
