BCC BriefsAt the February 3, 2009 Board of County Commissioners meeting, the board took the following action: Boat Ramps – voted to charge a fee of $10 per use or $75 for an annual permit to park boat trailers at county-owned ramps, effective October 1. Homeless Assistance – approved a budget transfer of $100,000 to conduct a pre-purchase evaluation of a vacant, privately owned property that could potentially be used as a homeless resource center. Ag Reserve – approved a lease extension through May 31, 2012 with Pero Family Farms, Inc., as well as a rent reduction, for the use of 570 acres in the Ag Reserve jointly owned by Palm Beach County and the South Florida Water Management District. Financial Advisor – approved a three-year contract for financial advisory services with Spectrum Municipal Services, Inc. The contract includes an option for a two-year extension at the county’s discretion. Centennial Bell – authorized the Palm Beach County Cultural Council to proceed with fund raising to purchase a large bronze commemorative bell to be displayed in the courtyard between the Governmental Center and the 1916 Historic Courthouse. Sector Plan – agreed to discuss at a February 25 Zoning Board meeting discontinuing staff efforts to draft a comprehensive land-use overlay (sector plan) for a large unincorporated rural-residential area north and west of Royal Palm Beach. Acreage Access Road – conceptually approved terms of an interlocal agreement with the Indian Trail Improvement District for two connections to the Acreage access road (State Road 7 extension). Water Utilities – approved a potable water, wastewater, and reclaimed water franchise and service area agreement with the Town of Loxahatchee Groves. The county will provide these water services within the town’s municipal limits in exchange for a 10 percent franchise fee; no mandatory hookups will be required. Water Main – continued to the February 24 BCC meeting a special assessment for extension of a potable water main for property owners on 3rd Place and 81st Avenue. Budget – received a status report on the proposed FY-2010 budget and discussed a series of preliminary recommendations. # # #
