Commissioner Burdick Attends Project Aspiration Launch

Commissioner Paulette Burdick was one of the invited guests at the January 22 kickoff of Project Aspiration, a mobile learning center in a custom designed bus. Just as the book-mobile brings the library to neighborhoods that do not have one, the nonprofit Project Aspiration delivers enhanced educational opportunities to underserved neighborhoods.

All educational services aboard the vehicle are free. They include GED assistance, Kaleidoscope of Cultures, field trips, anti-bullying and non-violence activities, and seminars with community partners and stakeholders. The bus itself features comfortable swivel seats, a 47-inch flat-panel instruction monitor, computer stations, satellite Internet-ready workstations, 19 individual learning stations, and the bus is fully handicap accessible.
