Commissioner Warren H. Newell requested funding to contribute $162,000 toward the installation of a traffic signal at the south entrance bus loop of Park Vista Community High School. On February 28, the Board of County Commissioners approved the request with the monies coming from the County’s Transportation Improvement Fund.
“This traffic light will make entry and exit to the school safer and more efficient,” said School Principal Nora Rosensweig. “Our first priority is the safety of the students, and that is compromised when we are not able to move the cars in and out of the school in an efficient and orderly manner. Commissioner Newell has been working closely with us for over a year to resolve this problem, and we are very grateful for his support.”
Even with the traffic light, people will need to exercise good judgment and patience because of heavy traffic during the periods when students are arriving and leaving, Rosensweig said.
Park Vista Community High School is located at 7900 Jog Road and Northtree Blvd. in western Boynton Beach. The school opened in 2004 and currently has more than 2,000 students. It has the second largest physical plant of any school in the state.
