Ball Field Dedicated to Slain Deputy
County Commission Chairman Tony Masilotti, Sheriff Ric Bradshaw, and nearly 100 friends, residents and law enforcement officials gathered with family members at Seminole Palms Park on March 25 to remember and celebrate the life of Palm Beach County Deputy Sheriff James Dickinson. Deputy Dickinson was killed in the line of duty in The Acreage on August 22, 1989. Pictured (l-r) are Sheriff Bradshaw, members of the Dickinson family, and Commissioner Masilotti. A plaque with the following inscription was unveiled in a ceremony dedicating a ball field at the park in Royal Palm Beach to the memory of this courageous officer: "This baseball field is dedicated to the memory of Deputy James R. Dickinson who was killed in the line of duty protecting the residents of Palm Beach County. He exemplified the true spirit of unselfish dedication to duty and maintained courageous calm in the face of danger. May his spirit live forever through the youth who play on this field." |
