Commissioner McCarty Cuts Ribbon for the New Pine Jog TrailsOn March 15, 2007, Commissioner McCarty was delighted to participate in the ribbon-cutting ceremony for new public walking trails at the Pine Jog Environmental Center located at 5301 Summit Boulevard, West Palm Beach. The facility is a component of Florida Atlantic University's College of Education. The project includes three miles of walking trails and a boardwalk surrounded by a pond and wetlands, all nestled in a natural environment consisting of approximately 150 acres. The trail system will provide opportunities for programs that will help foster an awareness and appreciation of the natural environment while promoting an understanding of ecological concepts. The trails are open to the public Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The project was funded by Palm Beach County and donations from the private sector.
