The Palm Beach County Criminal Justice Commission is pleased to announce that the Weed and Seed program will host a community breakfast on Wednesday, April 8. The breakfast will be held at the Salvation Army Community Center, 600 Rosemary Ave. in West Palm Beach, at 8:30 a.m. The keynote speaker for the event will be U.S. Attorney R. Alexander Acosta.
Many people who support the Weed and Seed program throughout Palm Beach County will be recognized at the breakfast, including law enforcement, elected officials, educators and nonprofit workers.
The Criminal Justice Commission funds Weed and Seed projects in cities such as Riviera Beach, West Palm Beach, and Delray Beach. Belle Glade and Gramercy Village both have active Weed and Seed sites sponsored by the U.S. Department of Justice.
Weed and Seed is a crime prevention strategy located in over 200 cities nationwide. The goal of the program is to work with law enforcement agencies to “weed” out crime and “seed” in community support through neighborhood participation, after-school programs, crime prevention programs, economic development, and gang and drug resistance programs.
