Commissioner Marcus to Host Grand Opening of NENA’s Bluegill Trail Saturday

Reporters and photographers are invited to join County Commission Chair Karen Marcus for the grand opening of the Northeast Everglades Natural Area’s (NENA) Bluegill Trail on Saturday, March 19, at 8 a.m. The event will showcase the recently completed 5.4-mile multiuse trail and public-use amenities between Palm Beach Gardens’ Sandhill Crane Access Park and the county’s Riverbend Park. There will be a short opening ceremony followed by a bicycle tour of the trail.

The Bluegill Trail is the first NENA trail to be completed and provides an improved surface for hikers and cyclists. A grassy swale next to the hardened trail is available for equestrian use. This event is being held in conjunction with Palm Beach County Bicycle Month and is free and open to the public.

Important Notes:

• Casual dress and comfortable shoes are recommended for this event.
• Restrooms are available at Sandhill Crane Access Park & Riverbend Park.
• Cyclists must bring their own bike. Helmets are recommended.

Directions from I-95 or the Florida Turnpike:  Exit at PGA Boulevard.  Go west about 4 miles from I-95 or about 2 miles from the turnpike.  Sandhill Crane Access Park is located on the northeast corner of PGA Boulevard and the C-18 Canal just west of the Mirasol development.
