Earth Day Celebration

Okeeheelee Nature Center will host Earth Day Celebration on Saturday, April 22, 2006, from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. in Okeeheelee Park. The event is free and both children and adults can learn about our surrounding ecosystem through a wide variety of activities.

The program schedule includes guided bird, nature, and butterfly walks, as well as exploration of the Marine Touch Tank, Dipnetting Station, and Raptor and Rainforest programs. The Birds of Prey display, wildlife movies, and nature crafts will be ongoing throughout the event. Participants will receive an Earth Day Passport and can earn a prize by accumulating stamps, which will be received from different activities. Pictures can also be taken with a wildlife ambassador for a nominal fee.

Reservations are suggested. Donations are appreciated. Drink and snack vending machines will be available, however, participants are encouraged to bring their own refreshments and enjoy a picnic. Okeeheelee Nature Center will be open for regular activities throughout the event.

Okeeheelee Nature Center is operated by Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation Department and is located in South County Regional Park at 1200 Park Access Road, west of State Road 441, between Glades Road and Yamato Road, in West Boca Raton.
