Palm Beach County’s Public Affairs Department earned high marks in the 2006 Communicator Awards, an international print competition. Judges graded the department’s entries of the “Economic Summit Notebook” (design/program guide category) and the “Hurricane Activation Web Site” (overall Web site category) among the top 14 percent of entries that won the coveted Award of Excellence. This award is presented “to those whose ability to communicate elevates them among the best in the field,” according to a statement from the Texas-based award sponsor.
Public Affairs also received four Awards of Distinction, which are given for projects that “exceed industry standards in design or communication skills.” The winners include the design of the 2006 calendar, a speech on affordable housing, a public information campaign about scheduled bridge openings and the Media Handbook.
Two Honorable Mentions were also awarded for creation of a Spanish Web site and the illustration/graphic design of the Economic Summit Notebook.
Overall, there were a total of 5,214 entries submitted from the United States and foreign countries.
